Primary Purpose
Administering, maintaining, upgrading, and replacement of all network devices, including firewalls, content filters, core routers, edge routers, switches, access points, and wireless controllers, including, the FIBER11 network, the ESC11 Core network, and the remote ESC11 DR network.

Education/Certification:
Degree or at least 3 years experience in Specialized Training in Telecommunications preferred
Current CCNA or applicable networking certifications preferred

Extensive knowledge of routers, switches, and WLAN hardware
Extensive knowledge of network monitoring tools
Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol use and troubleshooting
Knowledge of LAN design and best practices
Knowledge of wireless network protocols, equipment, security, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of PC operating systems
Knowledge of Cisco cloud platforms such as Umbrella and the Cisco Meraki dashboard
Knowledge of VMware or similar virtualization technologies
Knowledge of Antivirus management and solutions
Knowledge of packet captures and analysis
Familiarity with VMware NSX and/or NSX-T
Familiarity with optical transport networking
Familiarity with Intrusion Detection Systems
Familiarity with open-source network tools, e.g., Ansible, Graylog, Security Onion
Familiarity with Linux operating systems and terminal operations

Experience:
At least 3 years' experience working with networking and telecommunications equipment performing the duties of configuring, monitoring, and managing LAN/WAN infrastructure including management of routers, switches, and associated equipment preferred. A combination of certifications, education, and experience will be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Installation, upgrades, configuration and troubleshooting of all network hardware.
Maintain network security using available network tools and equipment such as firewall, IDS, DNS filtering, and DDoS mitigation.
Document new and existing processes and network diagrams/topologies.
Investigate, plan, and perform after-hours maintenance and respond to incidents in alignment with the FIBER11 SLA.
Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software and assist with technology planning through ongoing research.
Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test, and implement solutions.
Open, monitor, and update trouble cases with the ISP and follow up to ensure that remediations are in place for network and security issues.
Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with network systems.
Assist other technology departments in planning and decision making for future technology implementations.
Participate in team and department meetings and knowledge transfer sessions.
Occasional presentations covering networking/security topics for internal and external clients.
Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $64,778 minimum - $80,004 mid-point
