Navarro ISD is located in the community of Geronimo in Guadalupe County. A "rural oasis" in south central Texas, we are surrounded by Seguin, New Braunfels, and San Marcos and is conveniently located near both San Antonio and Austin. All four of our campuses are within walking distance.

Description/Notes: Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
1. Monitor instructional processes, explicit instruction practices and curriculum alignment to ensure program activities are related to outcomes and use findings to take corrective action when necessary.
2. Provide leadership for the adoption of best practice in literacy acquisition, as well as intervention and enrichment strategies.
3. Provide instructional resources and materials needed to accomplish instructional goals.
4. Establish and model clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with parents and the public.
5. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process. Support Professional Learning Communities on the campus and among campuses.
6. Solicit input from the campus-level committee about planning, operation, supervision and evaluation of campus education program. Include students and community representatives when appropriate.

School or Organization Improvement
7. Build a common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities and implement programs to ensure attainment of schools mission.
8. Establish campus performance objectives for Academic Excellence Indicators using the campus planning process and involving a site-based decision making committee. Demonstrate campus progress using results to promote school improvement.
9. Provide opportunities for interactive communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents and community.

Student Management
10. Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
11. Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
12. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students and teachers.

Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions
13. Comply with district policies, state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
14. Develop and administer campus budgets based on documented program needs and estimated enrollment, ensuring that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
15. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including accurate and timely reports of maximum attendance to requisition textbooks.
16. Manage use of school facilities. Oversee maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.

Personnel Management
17. Select, train, supervise and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline and dismissal. Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
18. Observe employee performance, record observations and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
19. Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals.

School or Community Relations
20. Articulate the schools mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
21. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
22. Participate as an active member of the district leadership team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, evaluate and recommend the hiring and termination of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s), teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical support staff, and custodians.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior
Environment: May work prolonged irregular house; works inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather0, exposure to noise, occasional district-wide and state-wide travel.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Qualifications: Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Masters degree in educational administration or related field
Valid Texas Mid-Management/Principal Certification
Acceptable background check and fingerprint results
Certified T-TESS appraiser

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to coordinate campus functions
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret and manage data for planning and decision- making
Knowledge of goal setting, curriculum, school organization, staffing and budget.
Experience in planning and presenting staff development
Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Three years experience in instructional leadership roles
Salary Range: 2021-2022 AP 7: Minimum $72,331
