Serve as a lead learning specialist for the UT High School special education and 504 services. Design and implement accommodations and support services for students enrolled in online courses and exams. Facilitate online learning, ARD meetings, and support to ensure student success.

This position requires reporting to work on the UT main campus, however currently the UT High School is piloting a hyrbrid remote schedule with three days on campus and two days remote. This position requires remote internet access.

Responsibilities
Design online courses, final exams, and support materials that are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and implement best practices in online learning and assessment. Develop scope and sequence, study guides, reading modules, diagrams/graphics, video content, and formative and summative assessment questions. Consider needs of a variety of student groups. Utilize the Canvas LMS and a variety of technology applications to produce effective instruction to support student success.

Facilitate online courses in a core high school subject area to ensure student success by instructing students through a variety of online methods, such as online feedback, facilitating online communication for student groups, and maintaining interactive and instructional course components.

Assist in coordinating instructional support and accommodations for students receiving special education and 504 services. Organize resources, develop systems, and communicate with adjunct instructors to ensure instructors and students are successful. Implement systems for instruction, feedback, monitoring student progress, and grade reporting to ensure all instructors in the department maintain timely, accurate, and supportive instruction, communication, and grade reporting. Navigate a variety of technology systems including Canvas LMS, Skyward SIS, Mishell SIS, and Proctorio to support students, parents, and instructors through streamlined processes.

Prepare exams, trainings, and support materials for the Proctorio remote online credit by exams and final exams. Respond to parent exam inquiries, prepare response documents, and provide communication aligned to state standards and UTHS policies. Ensure accommodations and support for a learners needs are delivered in an appropriate manner to support student success. Research and recommend systems to support students special needs.

Monitor student progress and grades, prepare reports, and determine recommendations for support to ensure student success in courses, exams, and STAAR. Coordinate and prepare student support materials and tutoring sessions online and face-to-face, including webinars and group and individual tutoring. Proctor STAAR and AP exams including implementation of accomodations. Participate and lead 504 and ARD meetings to support students with special needs. Prepare documentation and ensure alignment with required local, state, and federal policies and deadlines. Communicate with students and parents as needed to support student success.

Collaborate with a team of core subject area learning specialists, instructional technology developers, coordinators, and administration within UTHS to align and prioritize work to achieve measurable goals. Communicate with internal and external partners to support instruction, including preparing resources and trainings for partner school districts. Engage in projects that include partners from a variety of departments at UT. Travel to attend conferences and training sessions and participate in marketing opportunities for the UT High School program and services. Other related functions as assigned.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, special education, or a closely related field and five years of secondary level experience as an educator in Texas public schools, or bachelors degree and seven years of secondary level experience as an educator in Texas public schools. Texas Teacher Certification in special education and at least three years of special education teaching experience. Two years of experience in a K-12 leadership role at the campus or district level. Advanced understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), STAAR expectations, and best practices in special education and 504 services. Experience implementing support for diverse student populations with a wide-range of needs. Successful experience supporting students to achieve targeted objectives and tracking and reporting student data. Experience with online instruction. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task with high level of proficiency. Advanced technology skills. Professional demeanor. Exceptional organizational skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in education, science, or a closely related field. More than five years of secondary level experience. Current enrollment or completion of diagnostician or counseling program. More than three years of teaching experience in special education. Experience teaching high school courses. More than two years of experience in a leadership role in an educational setting. Experience leading specialty programs to support students receiving special education or 504 support services. Experience implementing social skills, transition, or related services for secondary level students. Experience leading ARD or 504 meetings. In-depth understanding of the TEKS, Texas Education Code, FERPA, and graduation requirements. Educator certification in multiple subject areas. Experience developing or facilitating online instruction. Experience leading trainings for teachers for curriculum, social emotional, student social skills programs, or special education services. Experience with blended learning instruction. Experience presenting and preparing reports and ARD documentation.

Salary Range: $57,000/yr + depending on qualifications
