Description/Notes: JG Consulting has engaged with the Killeen Independent School District (Killeen ISD) to recruit candidates to serve as the Deputy Superintendent.

The Deputy Superintendent will oversee the full operation of Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities Services, Student Services, School Safety, District Athletics and Technology Services. The district leader will also assist with the development of policies by performing assigned duties. Additionally, the Deputy Superintendent will oversee the planning for selection and assignment of best-qualified teachers and personnel.

Qualifications: SUMMARY:
Oversees the full operation of Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities Services, Student Services, School Safety, District Athletics and Technology Services. Assists with the development of policies for the district by performing assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provides comprehensive oversight and leadership to Human Resources, Business Services,
Facilities Services, Student Services, School Safety, District Athletics and Technology Services.

Oversees the planning and the implementation of policies relating to all phases of human
resources management.

Oversees the planning for selection and assignment of best-qualified teachers and personnel.

Oversees the process of investigations involving alleged misconduct by district employees, equal employment opportunity complaints, child abuse investigations, and Level II complaints.

Oversees the management of financial operations for the district to include the preparation of the budget, investments and cash management, financial operations, reporting and auditing, school nutrition and transportation.

Assists in the oversight of all components of technology within the district in both instructional and administrative areas (personnel, equipment, budget, staff development, etc.).

Oversees the overall program of interscholastic league athletics for the district.

Oversees the management and coordination of all facility related functions, to include facility planning, facility construction, facility maintenance and operations.

Oversees the leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of all the districts Student Services Department.

Oversees security plans and safety programs for the district.

Interprets and communicates special program information to the board, administration, staff and the general public.

Ensures administration is aware of developments and changes in state, federal, and local laws affecting education; ensures district implementation and compliance of policies established by federal and state law and State Board of Education rules.

Provides training and coordinates Board presentations.

Writes and delivers presentations to Board of Trustees or Superintendent regarding policies and practices associated with Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities Services, Student Services, School Safety, District Athletics and Technology Services.

Develops and interprets board policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Conducts periodic meetings with district personnel to plan, discuss, resolve issues, and to
communicate information.

Attends board meetings, workshops, and retreats.

Maintains a high degree of visibility within the community and school district.

Supports the Superintendent in all areas of administrative decision-making and works toward achieving those decisions.

Assists the Superintendent in the daily operation of the school district.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities Services, Student Services, School
Safety, District Athletics and Technology Services. Is responsible for the overall direction,
coordination, and evaluation of these departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Education or Business Administration or equivalent, required. Doctorate
degree, preferred. Experience in campus educational administration, preferred. Central office experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Principal Certificate preferred. Superintendent Certificate preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond
effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles
using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive
speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to Board of Trustees,
administrators, employees, students and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and
practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations,
graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to occasionally travel. Must establish residency within the boundaries of the Killeen Independent School District within one calendar year of being hired per DC (Local) Policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist. The employee must occasionally lift or carry (less than 15 pounds). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires considerable close up work with computer video displays.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasional district-wide travel to multiple campuses as assigned. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet/moderate.
