Description/Notes: SUMMARY

To assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:



o Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body.

o Assists in reporting and monitoring student attendance.

o Monitors the supervision of students in places other than the classroom.

o Appraises professional building personnel as part of the Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) and evaluation processes.

o Assists and supervises substitutes in the performance of their duties.

o Assists in the supervision of all campus staff.

o Assists in developing duty schedules for professionals and paraprofessionals.

o Monitors plant security and safety standards to include fire prevention.

o Oversees maintenance and upkeep of building.

o Request minor building repairs and maintenance.

o Maintains and monitors campus textbooks, including state textbooks and district curriculum guides.

o Assists in the budget process.

o Requisitions, disperses, and inventories supplies and equipment.

o Assists in the development of instructional schedules for teachers, students, and aides.

o Assists in monitoring and supervising the instructional program.

o Facilitates communication within the school and between school and community.

o Participates in program development at the campus and district level.

o Attends meetings such as PTA, CRT, ARD, DARE, SBDM, Faculty/Parent Night, Campus and/or district-wide meetings.

o Attends workshops and conventions for professional development.

o Performs other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises teachers and staff at the assigned campus. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the districts policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Masters degree and three years teaching experience. Principal or Mid-Management Certificate.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret professional journals. Ability to write routine reports and educational correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents, students and/or faculty. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty, parents, students, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must be familiar with computers, such as word processing, e-mail, and Internet. Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction; and to coordinate campus functions; and the ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.

Contract Term: 202 days
Qualifications: Masters degree and three years teaching experience. Principal or Mid-Management Certificate.
Salary Range: $59,042 - $81,922 (202 days)
