Campus Description: Trinity Charter School was created in 2004. The district specializes in serving students through individualized learning plans and ongoing teacher-driven instruction. Since its original opening, the district has grown to twelve schools found in the communities of Canyon Lake, Corpus Christi, Katy, Lockhart, Tyler, Big Sandy, Brenham, Houston, Ft. Worth, and Spring Texas. The district enrollment throughout the year serves about 1000 students.

Description/Notes: The Dean of Instruction is responsible for ensuring that the highest quality curricula are developed across the school, and that the students' learning experiences are exciting, rigorous and helping to prepare them for college prep high school and colleges. The Dean of Instruction engages teachers in a professional dialogue about their teaching practices in order to assist in each individual teacher's development. In this position, one is expected to plan and deliver professional development sessions as well as seek out professional development opportunities for the entire staff. The Dean of Instruction also ensures that all students and teachers are prepared to administer state assessments as well as ensure that assessment and data are used to drive instruction. The Dean of Instruction is responsible for the design and administration of the School of Honor. The Dean of Instruction reports directly to the Principal. The Dean of Instruction is expected to work a 220-day schedule.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure the continuous professional development of all staff, including, in conjunction with the Principal Mentor, to set clear expectations and standards for excellent teaching and professionalism.
To further the continuous professional development of every teacher so that he/she is able to successfully implement the school's philosophy, strategies, and systems and to promote increasingly high levels of student achievement, including:
To prioritize staff training needs and to organize a plan for individual and staff-wide professional development; to oversee the implementation of the plan and to revise as necessary in response to student and teacher needs.
To conduct classroom observations and to follow-up with targeted feedback and support for teachers that help them to become even more effective teachers; to provide lesson-planning and unit-planning support to teachers on an as-needed basis; to be available to work with teachers to problem-solve areas of instructional difficulty.
To plan summer training and professional development full-days and half-days during the school year
To develop a menu of internal and external professional development opportunities available to our teachers and consistent with our mission
To be a regular presence in classrooms, informally observing and following-up with teachers in order to improve teacher effectiveness.
Oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum, including
To motivate and focus staff on student performance and on reaching for increasingly high levels of student achievement


In all subjects, to continue the development of clear Scope & Sequence documents aligned to the STAAR /TEKS common core standards
In all subjects, to continue the development of high-quality, standards-based instructional materials
Document and communicate scope and sequence, academic expectations, and evaluation process for each course among grade level team, content team, students and parents to build consistency in expectations across each grade level.
Maintain internal and external assessment systems and help teachers use assessment data to further improve the quality of instruction, including
To develop a testing schedule for all assessments and ensure all materials/programs are prepared previous to administration of assessment
To ensure staff is trained on correct proctoring and implementation of assessments
To hold frequent, debrief conversations with teachers, strategically analyzing areas for targeted instruction
To meet with each teacher to review which standards each student achieved and to strategize how to teach and re- teach to ensure that all students achieve all standards by the end of the school year.
To analyze assignment results, standardized test results, and other data points in order to target interventions that will ensure the academic success of all students
To ensure the frequent communication to parents around student academic performance, particularly in situations where a student's promotion to the next grade is in danger.
Provide the necessary support to keep the academic program running smoothly, including
To work with the Principal Mentor to create the school wide daily schedule including whole school schedule changes (testing days, half days, etc.)
To ensure that report cards and progress reports are done well, accurately, and on time
To work with teachers, LSSP, and RTI Specialists to create an individualized intervention plan for each retained student and ensure the frequent communication to parents around student academic performance, particularly in situations where a student's promotion to the next grade is in danger.
To make sure teachers have the instructional materials they need to teach effectively.
Provide fair, thorough teacher evaluations and hold teachers accountable for student and personal growth, including
To conduct weekly, bi-weekly, or tri-quarterly observations (depending on teacher needs); to follow up these observations with both one-on-one and written feedback
To complete quarterly evaluations of appropriate staff members with the Principal Mentor.
To read lesson plans and give feedback weekly, ensuring that staff members use the agreed upon lesson plan format.
To recognize and celebrate student achievement and staff professional growth and success
To contribute to and participate in comprehensive mid-year and end-of-year staff performance evaluations
If necessary, to address instances in which teaching staff are failing to fulfill their responsibilities as Trinity Charter School teachers so as to adhere to the employee handbook.
If necessary, to recommend to the Principal Mentor that a staff member be formally disciplined for inappropriate conduct or insufficient performance
To contribute to the successful implementation of our teacher induction program and to develop or recommend workshops appropriate to staff needs
To have a "finger on the pulse" of teaching quality; to prioritize teachers for intensive help.
To work with the leadership team to problem -solve all major areas of school concern and to plan, short -term and long- term, for school success; to meet weekly with the leadership team for such planning
To listen and respond to problems/concerns identified by teachers and parents and to be thoughtful in designing solutions
In conjunction with the Superintendent and Director of Operations, to provide strategic direction for the school, including refining school objectives and planning for how these objectives will be met over time;to implement a system for the regular collection of data and to monitor progress against goals
Serve as a member of the school leadership team
To work with the leadership team to problem-solve all major areas of school concern and to plan, short-term and long-term, for school success; help design and operate the School of Honor on campus
To listen and respond to problems/concerns identified by teachers and parents and to be thoughtful in designing solutions
In conjunction with the Principal Mentor, recruit, interview, hire and retain top teachers.
Uphold code of conduct and school policies

Qualifications: Qualifications:

Masters degree from an accredited college or university
Working knowledge of minimum standards of Texas charter schools
Texas administrators certification in required fields
CTE Certification
A minimum of 5 years experience
CPI certification (or ability to acquire in two months).
