Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will lead the development of a vision and effective strategies that reassures the importance and value of an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment. This position will promote a culture of diversity and inclusion embracing differences as a strategic opportunity towards leading the Districts efforts to build a culture of equality and embodiment for all students, families, employees and the community of Greenville ISD.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Guide and advise the district on diversity, equity and inclusion matters.
2. Collaborate with District leadership to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure inclusive and equitable treatment of students, parents, faculty and staff.
3. Serve as a proactive, creative resource and consultant to students, employees, and partners at all levels of the district for diversity, equity and inclusion related initiatives and resources.
4. Collaborate with campuses and departments to collect and analyze data to support and enhance diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and to address disproportionality.
5. Gather, research, and analyze data for use in statistical calculations and reporting in order to meet federal and state requirements, including creating workforce analysis reports.
6. Develop and implement district-wide training to promote cultural understanding and competency and a climate of equity and inclusion. Training may include online tools, diversity and unconscious bias training, and presentations as needed.
7. Guide the work of professional staff that assist with EEO investigations because of suspected discrimination and harassment complaints filed by students, staff, and administrators.
8. Communicates and articulates applicable diversity, equity and inclusion policies for the general public, governmental enforcing agencies, political and community group leaders.
9. Participate in and advises the districts recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups. Monitor, evaluate, and assess the adequacy of diversity of candidates in the hiring and screening process. Work with Employee Services to develop recruitment strategies that attract underrepresented candidates.
10. Evaluate and monitor institutional systems, processes, and resources across departments and campuses to ensure equity, access, and inclusion in an effort to prevent systemic racism, disproportionality, and other disparities.
11. Facilitate discussions related to diversity, equity and inclusion with district and community groups/stakeholders as needed provide equity, diversity and inclusion resources for teachers, administrators, families/community members.
12. Collect, analyze, forecast and, provide on-going diversity, equity and inclusion updates to the leadership team and make recommendations for achieving district goals, including policy revisions/change and best practices as needed.
13. Provide support to campus and district-wide groups regarding diversity-focused events.
14. Provide analysis of legislation and regulations related to equity.
15. Effectively solve problems rather than treating symptoms, listen to and take responsibility for parent or community interest and concerns addressed at the central office level, and develop cohesive solutions after weighing alternative courses of action.
16. Manifest adeptness at conflict resolution and in choosing among alternatives; possess the ability to balance the needs of central administration, campus educators, students, parents, and the community.
17. Stay current with issues and best practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion through professional organizations, publications, and conferences
18. Provide professional development on diversity, equity and inclusion and related issues.
19. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies concerning diversity, equity, and inclusion.
20. Maintain complete and accurate records as required.
21. Collaborate with campuses and departments to develop and monitor equity within the District provide consultation, guidance, and training to district departments and committees on relevant diversity, equity and inclusion matters.
22. Utilize data and research to provide regular equity, diversity, and inclusion updates to the leadership team and the Board of Trustees as warranted, including recommendations for achieving district goals, e.g. policy revisions, best practices.

23. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.

Qualifications: Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Master's degree in behavioral sciences, human resources management, communication, human relations, education, or relevant experience preferred
Demonstrated leadership in developing, supporting, and sustaining an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion, preferred.

Organizational administration or other relevant experience required.
Experience in creating and facilitating diversity, equity, and inclusion professional development sessions, workshops, and discussions across large diverse staff.
Experience related to compliance, planning development, execution, progress monitoring and accountability

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability to serve as an internal resource and liaison, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a context often complicated by sensitive issues and the presence of competing perspectives or interests.

Demonstrated understanding of the elements and dynamics of organizational change.
Experience leading or participating in significant organizational change.
Ability to research, identify and implement best practices of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Excellent communications skills, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.
Demonstrated ability to cross organizational and cultural boundaries with ease, adapting language and style to the context both in person and at a distance.
Demonstrated execution of effective judgment, analysis, situational awareness, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated skills and abilities in developing high quality and engaging presentations utilizing multiple platforms.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience per the Greenville ISD compensation plan.
