The Corner School is seeking an experienced Child Care Center Director. As the Director of The Corner School you will have an amazing opportunity to administer a state-licensed child care center caring for children from 8 weeks of age through pre-k.

The Corner School is an on-site child care center located at TASBs Corporate Headquarters in northwest Austin. The school has six classrooms offering low child-to-teacher ratios and an outdoor play space. The patrons of the school include children of TASB employees as well as other children in the community.

About the Opportunity

The Child Care Center Director is responsible for management and operations of the on-site child care center (The Corner School) and summer camp (Camp TASB) programs in accordance with state licensing regulations, national accreditation criteria, and organizational policies. A bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, is highly preferred and management experience in a large state-licensed child care center or preschool is required.

Position Highlights

Oversees day-to-day operations of the child care center and Camp TASB programs
Manages the hiring, evaluations, and development of all staff
Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures for the operation of the child care center and camp
Regularly observes classrooms, monitors for compliance, and identifies continual improvement opportunities
Prepares, maintains, and adheres to the departments budget and achieves or exceeds financial goals
Plans and allocates resources appropriately for the center
Works with the Lead Teachers to develop center and camp curriculum, based on age and needs of the children, and accreditation standards
Maintains an awareness of and assesses the market relative to tuition, early education programs, and staffing solutions and recommends changes to leadership
Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with all DFPS Minimum Standards, including maintenance of annual fire, health, and gas line inspections
Identifies common hazards throughout the school center, implements solutions, and acts on maintaining a safe environment including reviewing and practicing regular emergency preparedness drills
Coordinates with the Department Director of Facilities for maintenance and repairs
Obtains/maintains the centers national accreditation and adheres to those accreditation standards
Maintains open, consistent, and effective communication with parents, providing parent education training, assistance and support as needed
Represents TASB in a professional, courteous, and positive manner at all times
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of early child care operations, programs, and best practices
Demonstrates impeccable judgment when planning for and attending to childrens safety and health needs
Thorough knowledge of Texas DFPS guidelines as well as the Association for Early Learning Leaders requirements that govern a high-quality child care program
Understands developmentally appropriate classroom and curriculum in early childhood education
Communicates effectively and timely with parents, staff, and leadership, in both verbal and written form
Presents a good model to children of language use, both verbal and written
Responds to and interacts with children in their play environments and at the childs eye level
Helps children with toileting or diapering needs
Accepts and respects differences in children and parents
Handles stress and performs well under pressure
Exhibits flexibility and a sense of humor
Working knowledge of managing center budget and allocating resources accordingly
Detail-oriented with the ability to plan and organize programs and maintain accurate and up-to-date records
Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines
Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion relative to children, parents, and staff
Ability to work flexible hours between 5:30 am and 6:30 pm
Education and Experience

Minimum 3 years experience as a Director or 4 years experience as an Assistant Director at a licensed child care center, preferably in Texas
Minimum 3 years experience managing daycare staff
Bachelors degree in early childhood education or a similar field, or equivalent
Texas Directors License recognized through HHSC required
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Certified Child Care Professional credential with six college credit hours in business
Proficiency using daycare software and common desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Preferred

CPR and First Aid certified
Experience with NAEYC credentialing
