| Description/Notes: | Performs highly complex work assisting the Principal with the administration and management of a state school for youth who have been adjudicated delinquent of felony offenses, committed to the agency by a juvenile court, and assigned to a high security correctional facility. Assists with instructional and education personnel management and uses leadership and teambuilding skills to motivate educational staff and youth to work toward common objectives and establishes a positive school climate. Assists with overseeing daily educational facility operations and activities. Interacts with the secure facility’s administrators, case managers and specialized treatment staff, and correctional staff to support the youth treatment programs and the facility’s security measures. Collaborates with the Principal to ensure achievement of educational goals and objectives. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. |
| Qualifications: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree with major course work in Education, Education Administration, or a related field. Three years (3) of full-time wage-earning experience as a teacher at the secondary level, 6-12 or one (1) year of full-time wage-earning experience that may be any combination of the following: an assistant principal or principal at the secondary level; a secondary level or district administrator; or a superintendent of education. Required: · Valid Texas Mid-Management Administrator, Administrator, Principal, or Superintendent certification. Preferred: · Experience working in a correctional environment or with high-risk youth as an administrator or teacher. Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be from an accredited educational institution. Requirements for Continued Employment: · Failure to maintain required licenses/certifications will result in termination of employment. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing and any offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results from a drug screen conducted for the agency. |
