ABOUT THE JOB

The Director of PEIMS/SIS coordinates the district’s use of Finance, HR, and Student software for finance/HR processes, scheduling, grade reporting, testing, and attendance. The Director of PEIMS/SIS defines, develops, and performs the role of the data administration management, setting district-wide data standards and reporting requirements for the collection, delivery and use of the data in support of MISD’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s preferred.

Minimum of 5 years experience in a PEIMS/SIS related position.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS - EXPERIENCE

A good candidate for this position will possess extensive knowledge of Finance/HR and Student Information Systems and data management; knowledge of state PEIMS and attendance requirements and procedures; knowledge in all aspects of computer operations including data entry, editing and the ability to identify computer program errors through reviewing data and reports; the ability to analyze complex information; the ability to meet established deadlines; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work effectively with others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of PEIMS/SIS will evaluate, recommend, and implement key tools or processes to enhance the department’s ability to proactively deliver high quality, accurate, and useful reports and/or respond to customer data requests within deadlines; manage data requests and turn them into clearly defined tasks or projects for the team, with well-defined parameters and deliverables. Prioritize requests to ensure the team’s efforts are spent in the most value-added areas; import and export data from District information systems and third-party software as needed; identify opportunities to continuously improve the data discovery; assist with defining standard data quality checks at appropriate stages to ensure all data meets requirements for analytics and reporting; facilitate, mediate and define a strategy for leveraging information through data warehousing and data mining technologies; collaborate with other leaders to set and execute a strategy for data capture and data delivery; provide staff with ongoing guidance and training; assist in providing leadership and technical direction to staff; communicate awareness and understanding of data information needs, objectives, and direction to upper management and make recommendations as needed; assume primary responsibility for project coordination and communication on all assigned projects; maintain liaison relationship with school contacts; coordinate all activities associated with PEIMS; and establish district requirements and interprets local, state and federal requirements for student information collection.

The Director of PEIMS/SIS will demonstrate knowledge of reporting solutions; and demonstrate effective use of management skills, including planning and decision-making, identifying priorities and bringing projects to successful completion in a timely manner; and maintaining a focus on high standards and quality.

The Director of PEIMS/SIS will comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; be knowledgeable and supportive of district and department missions, visions and goals; and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Guidance and oversight of district PEIMS Specialist and Student Information Systems Analyst.

Use of the equipment may be required: Use of standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

The job may require mental/physical demands and consideration of environmental factors: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching; occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 20 pounds); may work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide and statewide travel; stressful decision-making moments; frequent communication with other employees and members of the public; work with frequent interruptions; and maintain emotional control under stress.

This job is expected to be mostly on-site but comes with the possibility to work remotely (from home) a few days per week as determined by your supervisor. Employees who work remotely are expected to follow policies (attendance, social media, confidentiality, data protection, code of conduct) in addition to protecting passwords and following data encryption protection standards and settings while working remotely as expected at the worksite

Salary Range: $89,388 - $126,000
