| Description/Notes: | MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Essential Functions Assist in implementing musical technique and ensemble skills in full orchestra and sectional settings. Support instruction related to tone production, intonation, rhythm, balance, and ensemble cohesion. Teach appropriate instrumental pedagogy and ensemble skills to support student success. Prepare individual students for auditions, competitions, and performance opportunities. Assist with rehearsal preparation and refinement of performance repertoire. Attend performances, competitions, and festivals as requested. Attend scheduled rehearsals during the school year as agreed upon with the Orchestra Teacher. Other Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and board policy in the orchestra program area. Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Frequent walking; occasional reaching. Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds); may lift and move musical instruments. Environment: Work primarily indoors; frequent exposure to noise. Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district travel. | Qualifications: | Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong musical leadership within a string orchestra setting Demonstrated expertise in string technique, including bowing, posture, intonation, and tone production Knowledge of ensemble rehearsal techniques and sectional instruction Experience in performance preparation and repertoire development Ability to work effectively with students Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Extensive experience in orchestral music performance and/or instruction (e.g., professional orchestra, collegiate orchestra, private instruction, youth orchestra, or equivalent experience) |
| Salary Range: | $40/HR |
