| Description/Notes: | 2026-2027 New Position Primary Purpose: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students with suspected or identified disabilities, interpret assessment results, and contribute to eligibility and placement decisions as part of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process. Utilize expertise in psychological and educational assessment, learning theories, and federal, state, and district regulations governing special education. Administer and interpret a range of formal and informal assessments, provide evidence-based recommendations for instruction and intervention, and communicate findings to parents, teachers and school staff to support student learning, social-emotional development, and overall well-being. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Assessment & Evaluation Select, administer, and interpret formal and informal assessments in accordance with IDEA, Texas Education Code, State Board of Education rules, TEA guidance, and district policy. Conduct comprehensive evaluations using multiple data sources, including observations, interviews, rating scales, cumulative records, and academic and behavioral data. Determine eligibility for special education services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Utilize evidence-based practices that respect and respond to students’ linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Interpret evaluation results and prepare clear, compliant written reports independently or in collaboration with fellow LSSPs and/or other team members. Provide timely evaluations, feedback, and recommendations to parents, teachers, and campus staff. Ensure compliance with all federal and state evaluation timelines and district productivity standards. ARD Participation & Instructional Support Participate in ARD committee meetings to review evaluation data, determine eligibility, support placement decisions, and assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Collaborate with ARD committee members to promote inclusive practices and equitable access to the general curriculum. Support classroom teachers in implementing IEPs and evidence-based instructional strategies. Consultation & Professional Learning Provide consultation and professional development to campus staff regarding identification, evaluation, and instructional support for students with disabilities, including bilingual learners. Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of best practices, procedures, and legal requirements. Program Management & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, services, and records in the district’s digital management system. Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and documentation in accordance with district procedures. Assist in the selection and ongoing evaluation of assessment materials and contribute to continuous improvement of assessment practices. Adhere to the ethical guidelines of professionals within the public school setting. Comply with all policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations. Participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as assigned. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: May provide clinical supervision to intern or trainee.** Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension; repetitive hand motions; keyboarding Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds), possible positioning of students with physical disabilities; possible lifting and moving of adaptive equipment Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel Mental Demands: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure NOTES: *An individual who has completed an internship, applied for a license, and been approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) will be issued a Trainee Status Letter and will maintain this status for a maximum of one calendar year until he or she passes the Jurisprudence Exam. A trainee must be under the supervision of an LSSP until licensure is confirmed by TSBEP in writing. ** An LSSP must have a minimum of three years of experience providing psychological services in the public school to supervise an intern or trainee. |
| Qualifications: | Education/Certification: Master’s degree in psychology from accredited college or university Valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) or Trainee Status Letter issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists* Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions Knowledge of psycho-social development Ability to interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Experience: One year experience providing psychology services in an educational setting |
| Salary Range: | Contract Days: 192 days Salary: Pay Grade 2: $57,860-$80,261, commensurate with experience |
