| Description/Notes: | Instructional and Program Management 1. Implement procedures to support and aid with facilitation of the district’s fine arts program. 2. Analyze student performance data. 3. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction and enriched learning in classroom settings. 4. Conduct a continuing evaluation of the fine arts program and implement changes based on the findings. 5. Provide direct instruction to students and model classroom lessons. 6. Assists in planning and implementing programs in all areas of fine arts. 7. Maintains and communicates a district-wide calendar containing district fine arts events. 8. Schedules guest performers and speakers, special events, workshops, exhibits, and competitions. 9. Organizes and publicizes Medina Valley ISD-sponsored competitions involving students in content area events. 10. Evaluates instructional materials, supplemental instructional resources, and equipment for classroom use. 11. Conducts and/or facilitates workshops on content area/grade level and pedagogical skills. Consultation 12. Suggest resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals. 13. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding fine arts initiatives. 14. Cooperatively develop long- and short- range objectives and goals for the area of fine arts instruction. 15. Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management 16. Maintain knowledge of the district’s curriculum and instructional programs, scope and sequence, and campus improvement plan. 17. Assists in budgeting, bidding for equipment and supplies, and monitors expenditures. 18. Conducts departmental meetings when appropriate, including elementary specials meetings to develop programs.. 19. Promotes the mission of the district and communicates that mission within the community. 20. Coordinates with Personnel Services to fill all fine arts teaching positions with the best available applicants. 21. Analyzes and recommends facilities, equipment, and material needs for optimum teaching and learning. 22. Utilizes information to recommend necessary changes or adjustments of facilities, equipment, and material needs. 23. Provides management and oversight of the high school auditoriums and Fine Arts facilities. Policies and Procedures 24. Compile and maintain reports, records, and other required documents. 25. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy. Professional Growth and Development 26. Seek, accept, and respond to evaluative feedback from other administrators to improve performance. 27. Actively seek out professional development activities in identified needed areas. 28. Demonstrate an interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge while staying current in research and evaluation. 29. Communicates district Pre-K through twelfth grade fine arts curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals, and new directions to parents, principals, and community. | Qualifications: | Education/Certification: Master’s degree from accredited university with a major in fine arts Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for fine arts Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Ability to interpret data Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Five years teaching experience in fine arts |
