Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising various safety and security measures throughout the Hays Consolidated Independent School District. The coordinator will be proactive in assessing campus adherence to safety protocols, guidance, and training as it relates to district safety and security. This position will collaborate with the Chief on safety and security initiatives. This will include compliance with local and state regulations, as well as district and industry standards, along with state law. Experience: Five years experience in law enforcement or school-based law enforcement Three to five years of experience and knowledge in a public school setting preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Collaborates with the Chief in coordinating local law enforcement services to district secondary schools as articulated in the Memorandum of Understanding with Hays County Sheriff’s Office. 2. Collaborates with the Chief, department staff, local law enforcement agencies, and other investigative agencies when necessary. 3. Reviews, edits, and updates the HCISD Emergency Operations Plan. 4. Conducts physical security and site-based risk assessments of district property. 5. Advises school personnel with behavioral threat assessment and serves as a member of a campus or district team when directed. 6. Serve as Emergency Management Coordinator in the absence of the Chief of Safety and Security. 7. Coordinates the scheduling, monitoring, and training of the district-wide mobile security team. 8. Acts as liaison and assists when needed in the capacity of district facility rentals. 9. Monitors, collaborates, assesses, and evaluates district compliance with emergency drill mandates. Participates in annual budget preparation and tracking. 12. Responds to and assesses crisis situations that occur on district property, including drills under the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method. 13. Maintains proficiency in various district-used technology platforms. 14. Coordinates program-related staff development for faculty and staff as indicated. 15. Provides classroom presentations on program-related topics in coordination with instructional staff. 16. Maintains continuing education requirements, attends and assists in training, as directed. 17. Strict adherence to the confidentiality of records and information involving all faculty, staff, and students. 18. Serves as a team member and role model while exhibiting organizational core values. 19. Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 20. Operates independently and meets expected deadlines with minimal supervision. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicles, alarms systems, fire extinguishers, security equipment (radio/scanner) and any other tools or equipment needed to perform daily activity, computer and associated programs for security monitoring and report preparation, and copier/scanner and telephone. Posture: Frequent standing/sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Frequent walking and driving. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces including driving in varying climate conditions; frequent personal exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. May work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; daily district-wide travel. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, which will necessitate contacting local emergency services to report incidents. Qualifications: | Peace Officer Certification, minimum licensing of “Intermediate” certificate preferred Active commission held by a local agency is recommended TCOLE #41501 SBLE Introductory Training Mental Health Peace Officer, preferred Clear and valid Texas driver’s license |
Salary Range: | $75,350 - $91,891 |
