Description/Notes: | Job Title: 5th Grade Math Teacher Qualifications and Requirements: Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Hold appropriate Texas teacher certification for the grade level/subject seeking to teach. Job Summary Schulenburg ISD teachers are responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. Teachers plan and deliver effective instructional lessons, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic success. Teachers collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to implement curriculum, maintain classroom discipline, and ensure the safety of students. Additionally, teachers stay updated on educational best practices to enhance teaching methods and contribute to the overall success of students. Responsibilities and Duties A teacher's duties and responsibilities vary depending on the grade level and subject area. The list below is an overview. Planning and Delivering Instruction: Develop lesson plans and curriculum materials. Create instructional activities and assessments. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Classroom Management: Establish and enforce classroom rules and behavior expectations. Maintain a positive learning environment. Manage student behavior and address discipline issues when necessary. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess and evaluate student performance. Provide feedback and grades to students and parents. Analyze data to make instructional adjustments. Individualized Instruction: Identify and address the unique learning needs of students. Provide additional support or enrichment as required. Communication: Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues regarding students' progress and academic needs. Plan and attend parent-teacher conferences and meetings. Professional Development: Participate in professional development workshops and training as required. Technology Integration: Incorporate technology into teaching methods when appropriate. Ensure that classroom technology has been approved by campus/district leadership. Safety and Welfare: Ensure the safety and well-being of students. Comply with all policies and procedures related to security. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. Complete administrative tasks related to teaching, such as submitting lesson plans and other reports as your campus principal requires. Parent and Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents and involve them in their child's education. Participate in school and community events as appropriate. Special Education and Inclusion (as applicable): Provide support and accommodations as indicated in a student’s IEP or 504 plan. Collaborate with special education professionals and support staff. Professional Ethics: Adhere to the ethical standards and code of conduct for educators as outlined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). District Culture and Values: Creating Shorthorns Forever Reporting Structure: Teachers report to the campus principal. The campus principal or assistant principal will be the teacher's appraiser. Responsibilities of Supervision: If a classroom aide is assigned to this teaching position, you will supervise that employee throughout the day. Physical and Mental Demands: Extended periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting classroom materials, frequent walking, working inside and outside. Teachers are expected to maintain control of their emotions in stressful situations. Emergency Response: All school district personnel should be prepared to respond to emergencies, which may involve physical activities such as evacuating a building, administering first aid, or assisting in crises. All school district staff are responsible for providing a safe learning environment for students. Location: Schulenburg Elementary Salary: The teacher pay scale can be found on the school website. According to the Fair Labor Standards Act, this job is classified as exempt. |
