Description/Notes: | PRIMARY FUNCTION To provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional programs. The Director ensures alignment with state standards, promotes best instructional practices, and supports improved academic outcomes for all students. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university Master degree preferred Valid Texas teaching certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), state assessments, and accountability systems Experience: Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in curriculum and instruction preferred EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serve as the primary leader for instructional initiatives, including literacy and math frameworks, curriculum pacing, vertical alignment, and instructional equity across campuses. Oversee the design, alignment, and implementation of curriculum across all grade levels and content areas to ensure rigor, coherence, and compliance with TEKS. Lead the adoption and implementation of instructional materials and resources in accordance with district goals and state mandates. Evaluate instructional programs and recommend revisions based on performance data, teacher input, and curriculum effectiveness. Conduct curriculum audits, walk-throughs, and feedback cycles to ensure fidelity of implementation across all campuses. Partner with district leadership to develop and implement long-range strategic plans for curriculum, instruction, and assessment that align with district academic priorities. Drive innovation by researching, piloting, and scaling effective instructional practices, digital learning tools, and evidence-based interventions. Support districtwide instructional initiatives that promote academic improvement, equity, and college/career readiness. Oversee integration of local and state assessment data, including STAAR and EOC, into instructional planning and curriculum alignment. Analyze performance data to identify instructional gaps and inform teaching strategies at both the campus and district levels. Monitor program effectiveness and use data to drive continuous improvement. Design and coordinate districtwide professional learning aligned to curriculum goals and instructional priorities. Facilitate training on curriculum resources, effective instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Collaborate with principals and instructional coaches to build teacher capacity and support the development of strong instructional leadership at the campus level. Facilitate curriculum and instructional planning committees across grade levels and departments to ensure alignment and continuity. Coordinate closely with departments including Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, CTE, and Federal Programs to ensure all student populations have access to aligned, high-quality instruction. Support campuses in the implementation of academic interventions, enrichment programs, and instructional support systems. Ensure all instructional programs and curriculum practices are aligned with state and federal guidelines. Monitor implementation of instructional goals outlined in the District Improvement Plan. Support grant-funded and state-initiated instructional programs and ensure compliance with all associated requirements. Provide coaching and direct support to campus instructional leadership teams to develop and sustain effective instructional systems. Lead communication of instructional vision and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. Adhere to professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics. Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job performance. Maintain confidentiality. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and the Superintendent of Schools.
