PRIMARY PURPOSE:



The Multimedia Specialist reports directly to the Director of Communications and will work with a team of creatives, executing visual and written storytelling for both print and digital platforms –photographing, filming, editing photos and video, to support ongoing new content creation and larger editorial and marketing initiatives. They will also manage the district’s social media platforms, creating compelling social media campaigns that align with the district’s marketing strategy, and will serve as liaison to all campus social media champions to offer support as needed.


A self-starter and detail-oriented multitasker, they will develop their own creative content ideas in addition to working with the editorial team to help bring their ideas to life. They work closely with the Communications team to help interpret and create visually compelling stories and other digital content to be used across channels and platforms.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Manages the district’s online presence, coordinating with the Director of Communications to develop and implement strategies to build and strengthen the district’s brand in the digital space.
Develops and produces social media communications content and develops campaigns for district Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts. Monitors social media and responds to community questions and concerns, supporting the district’s strategic priority of engagement in the community.
Supports staff with social media needs, including individual school pages by adhering to all applicable board policies governing social media and digital communications guidelines.
Photograph assignments, execute high-level digital photography, using the latest photography tools, lights, and styles to edit and tell exceptional stories.
Handle coverage and identify storytelling opportunities related to the district’s bond initiatives.
Produce and edit short-form video, looped imagery, and other emerging formats.
Work closely with editorial leadership and team to understand visual/photo needs for assigned projects and prioritize accordingly.
Pitch ideas that use multimedia and other innovative visual storytelling tools.
Manage pre-production, production, and post-production for a variety of multimedia projects.
Gather and analyze information to write and edit various print and electronic communication vehicles such as blog posts, newsletters, brochures, news releases, web content, social media content, marketing materials, reports, and others as required.
Assist in producing marketing materials for print and online use. Supports school, departmental and program staff in developing and implementing communication strategies for programs and events through collaboration with other members of the communications department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position will also require prolonged and irregular hours and the ability to work independently. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field from an accredited College or University
Three years of professional experience with editorial photography, including but not limited to, portraits and events, filming experience, facility with digital asset management systems, photo processing, metadata, lighting, and post-production digital imaging in a PC/Mac-based computer environment.


Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Experience in school district communications


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated skills in writing and editing
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite with expertise in Adobe Premiere, and Photoshop.
Understanding of strobes, flashes, lights, and color temperature.
Experience working with drone technology.
Experience working in media, publishing, or non-profit organization.
Ability to employ innovative photo techniques and openness to experimentation and new storytelling formats.
Experienced with licensing rights and contracts for images, footage, and music.
Exceptional eye for composition, contrast, and color.
Knowledge of digital technology and social media trends (reels), media requirements, and evolving best practices.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly.
