PRIMARY PURPOSE:



The Coordinator - Employee Relations is responsible for a broad range of professional employee relations activities including but not limited to: reviewing investigations submitted by campuses/departments, conducting investigations of alleged misconduct and conflict resolution, policy interpretation, the preparation and delivery of related summary reports and recommendations, assisting with exit interviews, leading investigation and documentation training to administrators in the District, represent the District in unemployment hearings as assigned, and serving as a resource to Human Resource Service administrators as well as district administrators regarding various employee relations matters.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



Investigate and assist in responding to concerns related to employee misconduct, employee performance concerns, Board policy violations, violations of the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct, and other violations of law directly related to the employee/employer relationship.
Ensure accuracy and fidelity of all investigations submitted to Human Resource Services. This includes amending investigations based on evidence presented and preparing outcomes dispositions.
Assist in the process of interviewing victims, informants, witnesses, suspects, and prepare memoranda of interviews of fact and detailed reports of investigation.
Investigate and gather information needed for processing employee grievances and OCR complaints.
Investigate and respond to claims for unemployment compensation as designated.
Communicate with employees to learn their concerns, identity the source of issues or misunderstandings, and counseling employees and resolving their issues.
Assist the Employee Relations Manager in the delivery of training related to employee relations and professional standards and developing and implementing employee relations best practices and programs.
Safeguarding sensitive and confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure.
Identify and participate in professional development to foster continuous growth.
Conduct exit and stay interviews as assigned, collating and analyzing employee feedback on a regular basis to generate more positive outcomes.
Assist with employee orientation and training.
Organizing and updating employee relations files.
Maintain strict confidentiality throughout conversations and investigations; exercise sound judgment in handling or working with confidential data and situations.
Performs all other duties as assigned.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress. This position can require extended hours as needed.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:



Required:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
2 years in Human Resources, legal, school administration or job-related experience
Preferred:

5 years investigative experience: public education in administration, investigatory, dispute resolution or human resources
Ability to speak, read, and write proficiently in Spanish


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:



Knowledge of the techniques, methods and procedures used in gathering information and evidence, and conducting investigations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional and Google Apps
Intermediate knowledge in creating spreadsheets, pivot tables and analyzing data.
Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
Excellent organization, problem solving, communication, and overall interpersonal skills.
Ability to respond promptly and accurately to customer complaints and/or concerns.
Ability to demonstrate a strategic, consultative approach to resolving human resources related concerns and assist in mediating minor disagreements.
Salary Range: WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
