| Description/Notes: | This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired Reports to: Director of Special Services Dept./School: Department of Special Services Employment Type: Exempt Pay Grade: Teacher Professional Days: 201 Primary Purpose: The itinerant teacher for students with visual impairments travels to the students and is assigned schools to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to visual impairments. These services enable the students to learn in classroom and community environments. Services for infants may be provided in the infants’ homes or child-care settings (within district boundaries). The students range in age from birth through 21, and may or may not have additional disabilities. The cognitive levels of the students range from severely impaired to gifted and talented. |
| Qualifications: | Qualifications: ● Possesses the skills and abilities necessary to provide and coordinate this specialized instruction. ● Possesses strong communication skills which foster good relationships with students, families, co-workers, campus staff, and others to facilitate instruction. Education/Certification: ● A valid Texas Driver’s License and the ability to drive to specified locations within the district’s boundaries ● A bachelor’s degree from a college or university ● A current certification/license for teachers of students with visual impairments Experience: ● Preferred experience working with Teams ● Preferred 3 years experience working as a teacher of the visually impaired |
