| Description/Notes: | Provide students identified with dyslexia an intensive, multisensory, phonetic instructional program that includes writing, spelling, and reading components. Provide students the opportunity to make significant gains in reading and develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. |
| Qualifications: | Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university Valid Texas bilingual teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for assignment Special Education certification, preferred Specialized training in Dyslexia and Related Disorders, preferred Reading Academies certification, preferred Demonstrated ability to instruction in both Spanish & English academically Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of reading, writing, and spelling instructional strategies Knowledge of 504 process Knowledge of Admission, Revie, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation Knowledge and understanding of the interrelated components of bilingual teaching/first & second language acquisition impact on reading Ability to administer certain assessments for identification of dyslexia Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data Ability to mentor, coach, and provide professional development in the area of Spanish & English bilingual reading Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: At least one year student teaching or approved internship |
| Salary Range: | Teacher pay starts at $50,700 plus $6,000 stipend |
