Description/Notes: Job Summary
The school based mental health school counselor will provide essential mental health support to students while promoting a positive and nurturing environment. The role involves individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, social emotional learning lessons, and collaboration with educators, parents, staff, and other individuals to foster the overall well-being of our scholars.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

1. Individual Counseling:
a. Conduct one-on-one counseling session with students to address emotional, behavioral, and social concerns.
b. Develop personalized treatment plans and goals to support students’ mental health and academic success.
c. Participate in ARD meetings as needed.
2. SEL Lessons/Group Counseling:
a. Facilitate group counseling sessions to address common challenges and promote a sense of community and support among students.
b. Collaborate with teachers to identify and address group needs within the school setting.
3. Crisis Intervention:
a. Provide immediate support and intervention during crisis situations, such as emotional distress, trauma, or other emergencies.
b. Collaborate with school administrators and other relevant personnel to implement crisis management protocols.
4. Collaboration and Consultation:
a. Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to address students’ mental health needs within the school and home environments.
b. Provide consultation and training to school staff on recognizing and addressing mental health concerns.
5. Prevention Programs:
a. Develop and implement preventive mental health programs and initiatives to promote a positive school culture.
b. Conduct workshops and presentation with the guidance of the District Counselor for students, parents, and staff on topics related to mental health and well-being.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
a. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions.
b. Prepare and submit reports as required by school policies and regulations.
7. Professional Development:
a. Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of school counseling and mental health.
b. Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

Qualifications: Required Education/Experience
Master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field.
One (1) years of experience.
State licensure or certification as a mental health professional (LPC, LPC-Associate, LMFT, LCSW).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
Experience working with K-12 students in an educational or clinical setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
Sensitivity to cultural and individual differences and a commitment to promoting inclusion.

Salary Range: $3,750.00-$4,166.66 per month
