Description/Notes: JOB SUMMARY:   Provide regional leadership, technical assistance, and staff development to ESC-20 clients in the area of services related to the School Bus Driver Training Program, Bus Driver/Student Testing Cooperative, and the School Bus Driver Online Recertification Course.




POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.

Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record in accordance with the Texas School Bus Driver Driving Record Evaluation required.

Valid Texas School Bus Driver Certification required.

Valid Instructor’s Certificate for School Bus Driver Safety Training in Texas required.

Three years of relevant experience required.

Valid Texas Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred.

Bilingual speaker (Fluent in English and Spanish) preferred.

Ability to facilitate groups and provide professional development to adult learners.

Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with standard functions within electronic applications such as MS Office. (e.g. word processing, electronic spreadsheets) and e-mail.

Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment.

Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.

PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES

School Bus Driver Training Program

Ensure the provision of high-quality school bus driver training for all school bus drivers in the ESC-20 service area.

Train and monitor qualified instructors and testing proctors and ensure they are operating within Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) curriculum guidelines.

Serve as liaison between Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and Texas DPS, regarding bus driver training.

Schedule, coordinate with LEAs, and provide, the instruction of the 20-hour school bus driver training certification and the eight-hour recertification training classes for all bus drivers.

Maintain all support materials and equipment necessary to operate the program.

Work with LEA administrators in designing, implementing, and conducting effective school bus driver training programs.

Collaborate closely with transportation departments to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation programs regionwide.

Recommend enhancements to the Texas DPS for future development of school bus driver training.

Manage the preparation and maintenance of accurate and detailed records, as required by the Texas DPS, LEAs, and ESC-20, including the Texas DPS Bus Driver Training Monthly Report.

Manage the completion and distribution of certification cards for school bus drivers.

Participate in and make arrangements for hosting the bimonthly Central Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (CENTEX APT) chapter meetings.

Participate in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Annual Conference.

Engage in and support the Transportation Services Advisory Council.




Bus Driver/Student Testing Cooperative

Market the Bus Driver/Student Testing Cooperative statewide via website, email, phone, and conferences to ensure clients are aware of the services offered by ESC-20 Transportation Services.

Recommend, update, and maintain the Bus Driver/Student Testing Cooperative website, along with the applicable commitments within the ESC-20 Commitment and Contract System.

Serve as a liaison between LEAs and the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) for the Bus Driver/Student Testing Cooperative to ensure contracts and testing arrangements are complete.

Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with TPAs to ensure the effective management and delivery of support services.




School Bus Driver Online Recertification Course

Market the online recertification course statewide via website, email, phone, and conferences, to ensure clients are aware of the services offered by ESC-20 Transportation Services.

Provide statewide iDriveISD.net clients with consulting services and technical support, including training and system content updates.

Manage the preparation and maintenance of accurate and detailed records as required by the Texas DPS, LEAs, and ESC-20, including the Texas DPS Bus Driver Training Monthly Report.

Manage the completion and distribution of certification cards for school bus drivers.

Manage the completion and distribution of billing for all services.

Recruit proctors to assist in the support and success of the online recertification service.

 
Qualifications:
Salary Range: $5,425 - $6,102 monthly
