| Description/Notes: | 2026-2027 New Position Primary Purpose: Evaluate students with suspected or identified disabilities, interpret assessment results, and participate in eligibility and placement decisions through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process. Utilize acquired expertise in learning theories, assessment design, and federal, state, and district regulations related to special education. Administer and interpret a variety of evaluation instruments, make evidence-based recommendations for instruction and intervention, and communicate findings clearly to parents, teachers, and school staff to support the development of appropriate educational programs. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Assessment & Evaluation Select, administer, and interpret formal and informal assessments in accordance with IDEA, Texas Education Code, State Board of Education rules, TEA guidance, and district policy. Conduct comprehensive evaluations using multiple data sources, including observations, records review, interviews, and relevant academic and behavioral data. Determine eligibility for special education services, including Specific Learning Disability (SLD) and Other Health Impairment (OHI), in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Utilize evidence-based practices that respect and respond to students’ linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Interpret evaluation results and prepare clear, compliant written reports independently or in collaboration with school psychologists and other team members. Provide timely feedback and recommendations to parents, teachers, and campus staff. Ensure compliance with federal and state evaluation timelines. ARD Participation & Instructional Support Participate in ARD committee meetings to review evaluation data, determine eligibility, support placement decisions, and assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Collaborate with ARD committee members to promote inclusive practices and equitable access to the general curriculum. Support teachers in implementing IEPs and evidence-based instructional strategies. Consultation & Professional Learning Provide consultation and professional development to campus staff regarding identification, evaluation, and instructional support for students with disabilities. Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of best practices and legal requirements. Program Management & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, services, and records in the district’s digital management system. Compile, maintain, and file required reports and documentation in accordance with district procedures. Assist in the selection and evaluation of assessment materials and contribute to continuous program improvement efforts. Participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as assigned. Adhere to the ethical guidelines of professionals within the public school setting. Comply with all applicable policies established by federal laws, state regulations, State Board of Education rules, and local board policies. Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. | Qualifications: | Education/Certification: Master’s degree in educational assessment Valid Texas teaching certificate Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of evaluation and diagnostic procedures, special education laws and regulations, instructional strategies for students receiving special education services, human development, and learning theory Ability to interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Experience: Three years teaching experience |
| Salary Range: | Contract Days: 192 days Salary: Pay Grade 2: $57,860-$80,261, commensurate with experience |
