Description/Notes: The ACE Classroom Teacher provides all students with engaging and rigorous learning experiences in core academic subjects to allow students to reach their full intellectual, emotional, physical and social potential.
Qualifications: Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certification with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned [Physical Education Teachers: Current AED certificate]

Bilingual certification

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Practices

Promote the expectation for high-level performance from students and recognize excellence and achievement.

Develop and monitor instructional and classroom management strategies to ensure that instructional practices are aligned to evidence-based practices implemented with fidelity.

Ensure high-quality instructional materials and resources are implemented with fidelity.

Prepare for class assigned and fully internalize lessons and instructional requirements of the district's curriculum program.

Evaluate and assess student performance in alignment with campus and district practices and expectations.

Assess and document student mastery of curriculum objectives and student progress.

Disaggregate and interpret data in order to assist in developing appropriate next steps for classroom improvement.

Integrates technology to enhance real-world applications to the learner's experience.

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, and technology to meet the diverse needs of students..

Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals and objectives for students receiving special program services.

Follow all policies, practices, and procedures that create optimal learning conditions for students with special needs in alignment with IDEA.

Classroom Management and Organization

Develop a classroom community that promotes student collaboration and ownership of academic performance and behavior.

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, emotional, and leadership development of students.

Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Compile and maintain required records.

Culture & Climate

Create, cultivate and lead a culture of excellence, support, and community for all classroom stakeholders.

Develop a classroom student behavioral support system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the classroom and school climate.

Facilitate effective and timely resolution of conflicts.

Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

Enhance students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic achievement.

School or Community Relations

Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Communicate with parents, families, and communities on a regular and consistent basis to ensure clear and consistent messaging to parents on both campus and classroom events and information.

Engage with parents, families, and community members to increase parental involvement on the campus.

Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools and Equipment: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, Promethean panel, standard instructional equipment, copier, printer, phone, AED (P.E. teachers)

Software: Student Information System, Google applications

Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting, frequent walking, regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds), may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment, occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior (if trained), frequent keyboarding and use of mouse

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, work prolonged or irregular hours, work with frequent interruptions

Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), regular exposure to noise, occasional districtwide and statewide travel, biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases

Salary Range: Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Teacher, Librarians, & Nurses (RN) Salary Plan

Stipend: $10,000 ACE Stipend

Master's Degree: Additional $1,000 annual stipend
Benefits: Benefits are offered and the district pays $410.00 towards medical premium a month.
