Description/Notes: Responsible for the supervision, coaching and feedback, and development of campus principals. Provides instructional leadership support to principals and drives for excellent and equitable student outcomes for every child. Acts as the school improvement instructional leader by ensuring support for the academic achievement of assigned campuses. Ensures compliance with TEA’s school improvement framework and requirements.

Conduct coaching and feedback meetings with campus principals where goal setting, monitoring for progress and individual growth are discussed.

Evaluates systems that evaluate and coach teacher performance to improve instruction. Works with district personnel to coordinate the staffing of all school-based leadership positions.

Monitors campus and district data-driven instructional practices to analyze and improve student learning, including exceptional understanding of state and federal accountability. Interprets and uses data to make decisions.

Provides guidance for campus initiatives commensurate to highly effective learning environments.

Monitors and evaluates the research-based instructional framework to observe teacher practice, provide feedback, and plan individual and collective professional development to meet identified campus needs.

Develops instructional leadership capacity among principals while monitoring the development of campus leadership teams.

Evaluates and provides feedback on the use of financial resources, time, facilities, technology, and partnerships innovatively and equitability to accomplish the goal of powerful teaching and learning for all students.

Monitors campus plans and performance targets.

Partners with campus leaders to deliver an effective instructional program that addresses state, local and federal requirements to ensure academic achievement.

Conducts meetings with division leaders to analyze school, district, and state assessment results, identifies needs, aligns strategies, and monitors progress.

Plans for principal network meetings. Plans for differentiated approaches for principal development based on identified needs.

Reports on progress and performance to district stakeholders. Identifies trends and strategic needs across campuses with principals.

Analyzes school, district, and state assessment results to determine campus progress towards meeting improvement goals and plan to develop next steps to improve student achievement.

Reviews and provide feedback on campus plans with principals that incorporate and address identified gaps.

Monitors campus plans and works cross-functionally across KISD to support campuses based on identified needs and gaps.

Monitors high standards and expectations of all students and staff for academic performance facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the community.

Monitors campus culture and climate to ensure support of student and staff success while promoting respect and appreciation for cultural diversity. Participates in central office collaboration to ensure focus on support of principals as the key driver of student achievement. Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure the health of the principal pipeline. Maintains and communicates up-to-date principal priorities and expectations. Plans for identification and investment in high potential assistant principals. Participates and leads district wide committees. Monitors alignment of leadership development across levels to demands of principalship for high potential assistant principals. Attend board meetings. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications: Education/Certification/License:

5+ years of successful experience as principal or other related position.

Master’s degree required; doctorate, preferred. Principal certificate required. Special

Knowledge/Skills: Proven record of achieving measurable gains in student achievement; and designing, organizing, and leading systematically change processes in a complex and diverse environment. Strong ability to project, plan, and monitor progress towards goals. Demonstrated success in identifying, growing, and leveraging the potential of staff and teams. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proven effectiveness as coach or mentor of others in leadership positions. Knowledge of board policy and procedures; working knowledge of federal and state laws regulations, policies and procedures. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
