Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
To assist in the district’s overall communications program through effective, professional communication with internal and external audiences and support the Communications Department’s day-to-day functions. The Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for the creation of written and photographic contact for both the Communications Department and, when needed, other district departments and NISD schools. The Graphic Design Specialist will also assist the Communications Department with photography and event duties.
Qualifications: Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, media arts, visual arts, creative services, or related field
Previous experience in graphic design, school public relations or related field
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Services Suite
Experience in photography as well as photo editing strongly preferred
Experience in social media management, campaigns and content creation preferred
Experience working in online content management systems preferred
Ability to work with others in department and in district on joint projects and initiatives
Ability to think independently and solve problems
Ability to efficiently manage time and meet deadlines
Professional appearance and willingness to attend community events
Knowledge of media relations and public relations functions
Knowledge of ADA standards compliance or willingness to learn
Knowledge of FERPA and Texas Public Information Act or willingness to learn
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Create engaging graphic designs that best represent Northwest ISD and its schools to the public.
Create or update documents such as manuals, handbooks, brochures, and related work as needed.
Prepare graphic designs for printing, including conceptualization, design, and digital packaging for
printing partners.
Post graphics and photographs to district websites, social media, and other digital channels.
Work with district and campus leaders to create relevant graphics.
Coordinate graphical and photographic aspects of events and special projects as needed.
Photograph district and campus events and activities.
Assist with and support district events as needed. Frequently attend district events.
Follow digital media and graphic trends to innovate designs and communication with school district communities.
Contribute to the District Improvement Plan, as assigned, including creating goals and strategies as well as monitoring end-result effectiveness through metrics and accountability measures.
Comply with copyright laws, privacy and public information laws, all district policies, operating procedures, and any other legal requirements as required. · Project a positive image of Northwest ISD with a professional appearance and demeanor. · Responsible for completing all other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Must have ability to move from one location to another throughout the district. Must have a valid driver’s license. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace and on assignments. Position requires frequent interruptions, prolonged use of the computer, keyboarding, bending, stooping, lifting, sitting and ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
