Description/Notes: | Primary Role: Plan and provide speech-language pathology service to students with speech, voice, or language disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with the student's ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Therapy Develop speech/language goals and objectives for the Individual Education Plans that are aligned with formal evaluations and ongoing assessments. Participate in the Admission, Review Dismissal Committee meeting to assist in interpretation of assessment data, determination of appropriate placement and setting goals for students with communication disorders or conditions. Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in the Individual Education Plans. Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services. Consultation Counsel and involve parents in the remediation process. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of identified students. Provide professional development to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits in students. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student. Perform approved speech screenings and make recommendations to the general education teacher for interventions prior to referral for special education. Program Management Participate in the development and coordination of the continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make adjustments based on the findings. Assist in the selection of equipment, evaluation and instructional materials. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students. Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Administration Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other required documents. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines, regulations, and policies. Maintain a positive and productive relationship with administrators. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents. Assist with ordering and inventorying supplies and materials. Professional Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional and responsible. Participate in approved professional development to improve skills related to job assignment. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress and help others to do the same. Travel to member schools within the coop, as assigned. Manage assessment and instructional materials. |
Qualifications: | Qualifications: Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions Ability to instruct and manage student behavior Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience with speech-language disorders; experience in a school setting preferred |
Salary Range: | $60,000 - $68,000 Per year |
