Campus Description: | HISD is a small community located 15 miles north of Galveston and 40 miles south of downtown Houston. The Hitchcock Independent School District is located within Galveston County. It has four campuses in addition to Kids First Head Start. The enrollment is approximately 1,999 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This student population is 39.3% African American, 34.9% Hispanic, 20.7% White and 3.7% multiracial. There is an overall rate of 82.6% for Economically Disadvantaged. |

Description/Notes: | The primary purpose of the position is to maintain data on all assigned students referred, assessed, transferred, and/or students ARDs that are served through the special education program. |
Qualifications: | Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Associates Degree preferred Bilingual preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work with staff and parents in a cooperative and diplomatic manner Proficient skills in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and file maintenance Ability to use Special Education Manager software effectively Ability to follow verbal and written instruction Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Preferably one year in the special education department in a school system Major Responsibilities and Duties: Records, Reports, and Correspondence Keep student information on case load correct: name, DOB, SS#, address, email, etc. Request records from previous districts on transfer students Coordinate and schedule ARDs with campus personnel, parents, related service personnel, speech pathologists, LSSP, and/or diagnosticians on timely manner Prepare and send out invitations to ARD’s including 2nd and 3rd notices Send copies of ARD’s to parent, campus, and GGCCSE Send Medicaid forms to SHARS specialist Collect all paperwork at ARD. Make sure all blanks are completed and that everyone has signed signature page with appropriate titles Other MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY AT ALL TIMES Knowledge of federal, state, local laws/guidelines and procedures as related to special education language Knowledge and working capability of eSped data management system Coordinate with Licensed Specialists in School Psychology/Diagnosticians/Speech Pathologist on the students’ caseload Prepare for ARD’s (appropriate technology, all documentation required, ARD room with special education manager capabilities, phone available for conference calls and/or laptop for virtual meeting at ARD’s, confirmation of attendees, etc.) Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents. Any other duties as directed by the Director of Special Education. Salary Range: | $17.58 to $23.58 an hour |
