Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:

Perform network support both remotely and on site. Communicate with network vendors and assist the Systems/Network Administrator with monitoring network traffic. Assist with network throughput and security settings. Diagnosing network issues and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Respond to both wired and wireless issues when arise. Complete helpdesk tickets when they are created for network hardware including VOIP phones and audio/visual needs. Provide entry level network support for La Vernia Independent School District clients in a professional and courteous manner.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Network

Configures and installs campus network hardware including layer 2 and 3 switching along with wireless AP's.
Troubleshoots basic network connectivity issues including wire and fiber
Assists System/Network Manager in planning deployments.
Provides feedback and knowledge from the field to the Systems/Network Manager.
Diagnoses campus network failures and repairs or replaces failing components.
Completes all help desk tickets related to the network in a timely manner.
Maintains confidentiality of information.
Reports to work on time daily.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.


Equipment Repair and Maintenance
Diagnose and repair network connectivity and hardware issues.
Remove old equipment and perform data migration to new machines.
Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

Other Professional Responsibilities
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
Comply with policies established by state and federal law as well as with district board policy.
Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals, small truck or van.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching and carrying/climbing ladders.

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 lbs and over).

Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; may work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; may be required to be on call 24 hours a day.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Qualifications: Qualifications:


Education/Certification

- High school diploma or GED

-(CompTIA) A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications desired

-Two years’ experience with Network Platforms and support as well as general understanding of

information systems

-Valid Texas Driver’s License



Special Knowledge/Skills
-Ability to understand complex projects as defined and execute completion of same projects with limited

guidance.

-Demonstrated knowledge of operating systems used in LAN/WAN environments

-Ability to research new technologies and practices needed to support learning environments

-Demonstrated knowledge of Windows, Mac OS, and Chrome OS desired
Salary Range: $23.50 - $32.90 / Per Hour
