Description/Notes: UT Tyler University Academy is looking to build a pool of candidates for bus drivers. As openings become available, applicants will be selected for interviews. This position is responsible for the safe operation of University vehicles and excellent customer service to passengers.

Qualifications: Required Education / Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of commercial driving experience including minimum of one year of experience driving a passenger/school bus.
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Air Brake, Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Endorsements.
• Texas School Bus Drivers Certification
• Must pass a Driver’s license history check and criminal background check
• Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to reasonable cause and random alcohol and drug screening during employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
• Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, safety procedures, vehicle mechanics, route/areas, passenger management, and first aid.
• Driving, communication, customer service, observational, and problem-solving skills.
• Stress tolerance, situational awareness, time management, and adaptability.
• Competent in safety orientation, regulatory compliance, and technology.
Salary Range: $18 per hour

Part-time; up to 19.5 hours weekly, hours and schedule will vary.
