Description/Notes: Teach technical theatre classes and theatre arts classes as needed. Build and strike all main stage shows. Facilitate usage of auditorium for school and community sponsored events. Provide assistance with theatre arts, UIL, and OAP.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist lead theatre instructor with theatre classes as needed.

2. Construct and strike six fully produced productions per academic year; fall show, haunted house, spring musical, madrigal dinner, one act play, JV productions show.

3. Coordinate maintenance procedures for auditorium and theater systems.

4. Work cooperatively to accommodate various school assemblies, productions, and community sponsored events.

5. Maintain safety and security of auditorium and equipment.

6. Teach multiple technical theatre classes.

7. Assure compliance with auditorium safety and fire code regulations.

8. Sponsor the UIL theatrical design contestants and their entries.

9. Sponsor the Texas Thespians technical Individual Events contestants and their entries.

10. Assist with performance stage direction and student participation during UIL OAP.

11. Must be able to balance and coordinate all dates, times and event details for the auditorium including but not limited to the five fully produced productions.



Supervisory Responsibility:
Assist with supervision of student technicians and theatre classes.
Equipment Used:
Counter-Weight Fly System, Element computerized lighting system, Ellipsoidal, Fresneechl and intelligent lighting fixtures, GL 4000 sound board, in-house projector console, scene shop power tools

Qualifications: Education/Certification:
BA in Theatre Arts, BFA in Design and Production (Set, Costume, and Lighting), Technical Theatre, or Technical Direction, MFA preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
3+ years of classroom teaching in Technical Theatre preferred.
3+ years of theatre production experience at the high school, college, or professional level preferred.
Experience with Theatrical special systems, lighting and sound design and technical direction, and stage management.
Must possess the ability to interact and work productively with a wide variety of personalities and temperaments.
Must exhibit the ability to maintain the highest level of production quality while working under steady pressure.
Must possess the physical ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, good time management and organization abilities, manage a budget, negotiate contracts, and manage contract/part-time personnel.
Must be academically oriented, a team player, and possess the ability to work collaboratively within the team.
Salary Range: Teacher salary: $45,000 - $61,540
