Texas Connections Academy @ Houston (TCAH) is a tuition-free online public school serving students in grades 3-12 statewide. TCAH is provided in partnership with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) under the terms of the Texas Electronic Course Program (eCP) and Texas Online Schools (TxOLS). TCAH first opened in December 2008 with a regulatory cap of 100 students, and has grown to over 6,000 students served during the 2017-18 school year. TCAH operates as an approved HISD campus charter and is accredited through HISD.
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
Working from the office in Houston, TX, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for daily administrative tasks of the school such as receiving visitors, answering phones and email, assisting administrators, and teachers with administrative tasks, filing and other duties as assigned.
Maintain functional knowledge of Texas attendance laws pertaining to Texas Online schools;
Having a general knowledge of school policies, procedures and practices’
Answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls;
Speaking with Parents and Students;
Assisting school administration with a wide variety of daily responsibilities;
Receiving, sorting, and distributing daily mail;
Wrapping, packaging, and shipping secure and confidential materials;
Making arrangements for pick up by the carriers;
Arranging travel and accommodations, and other travel related tasks as needed;
Ordering office supplies and keeping inventory of stock;
Maintaining office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges);
Ensuring reception area and kitchen area are tidy and presentable; and
Additional duties as assigned.
|Qualifications:||Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and web-based applications is essential
Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
Professional attitude and appearance
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Customer focused approach
High degree of flexibility
Bilingual abilities are a plus
