Description/Notes: TITLE: SECURITY (Off Duty Peace Officers Preferred)

REPORTS TO: SCHOOL DIRECTOR





JOB PURPOSE: To assist the School Director and staff in providing a safe environment for students to learn and employees to work.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
1.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and general well being of the students, staff, equipment and facilities.
2.Assist in preserving order among the student population.
3.Ensure all school security devices are in proper working order.
4.Screen students each day for weapons, drugs and other contraband.
5.Confiscate any weapons and/or inappropriate substances and complete the incident report.
6.Protect students and staff from bodily injury; provide assistance in the event of a fight or altercation among students and/or staff.
7.Supervise students during break time, on school grounds, during detentions and on field trips.
8.Patrol the school building and grounds throughout the day and respond to and report any and all unusual or suspicious behavior immediately to the School Director.
9. Be knowledgeable about school policy and procedures regarding security and crisis intervention.
10.In the even of an incident, complete the school incident report recording relevant data.
11.Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for classroom behavior and procedures.
12.Perform such other office duties and/or tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be designated or assigned by immediate supervisors.



QUALIFICATIONS:
1.High School Diploma
2.At least six (6) months related experience, including student behavior management and crisis intervention.
3.Effectiveness in diffusing potentially volatile situations.
4. Proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner and relate to a variety of constituencies, including, but not limited to administrators, parents, teachers, students, other school staff and school visitors.
5.Possesses good communication skills, both verbal and written.
6.Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
7.Must possess sense of humor.
8.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company may find appropriated and acceptable.

PAY GRADE: Per current board approved RMA pay scale.
