Contract: 11 month classroom teacher + $5,000 Stipend. Positions may require extended hours and weekends.

Program of Study: Animal Science

Courses Taught: Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Livestock Production, Advanced Animal Science, Veterinary Medical Applications

Student IBC Taught: Elanco Vet Med & Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teaching certificate or related work experience under the District of Innovation Plan

Duties:

Serve as an advisor to Westwood FFA

Assist students in selecting and managing show animals

Assist in training competitive LDE and CDE teams for students at local, regional and state level

Accompany and supervise students at all off-campus activities including contests, workshops and field trips associated with the agriculture science program and Westwood FFA

Prepare students for Elanco Vet- Med Industry-Based Certifications

Work with Westwood Youth Supporters, administrators and community members

Work in a multi-teacher department

Develop and implement lesson plans for varied learners

Oversee process of maintaining facilities and equipment, including our on-site animal barn

Assist in selection of equipment and other instructional materials

Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teaching certificate or related work experience under the District of Innovation Plan
Salary Range: Per salary scale and experience.
