Job Responsibilities

Serve as the campus representative for 504 scholars; effective management, supervisory, team building, and problem-solving skills.
Schedule and carry out PLCs to train teachers on 504 Accommodations.
Ensure procedural safeguards are in compliance.
Update the 504 roster on a weekly basis and update PEIMS and SuccessEd.
Work with the SPED team on a referral process regarding 504 scholars.
Serve as campus resource person and trainer for all campus staff to support scholars limited in their English proficiency and scholars being served in 504.
Create and maintain up to date information for ESL scholars in DMAC (HLS, Assessments, Grades, Benchmarks, and Accommodations) as required by law.
Maintain constant communication with SPED/SPEECH departments regarding shared scholars and attend ARD meetings.
Schedule and carry out PLCs to train teachers in ESL requirements (Accommodations, Seidlitz, TELPAS, etc.).
Update the ESL roster on a weekly basis and update PEIMS.
Collaborate with campus administration to ensure ongoing identification and documentation of enrolled scholars in whose home is spoken a language other than English and who are found to be limited in their English proficiency.
Schedule and conduct Language Proficiency Assessment Committee meetings to ensure appropriate identification, placement and services for scholars limited in their English proficiency.
Collaborate with general education teachers and administrators to provide staff training in ESL strategies to assure appropriate assistance to and understanding of ELL.
Ensure continual assessment of ELL scholar progress by using local and district benchmark testing and general coursework progress reports; evaluate findings in order to assure ELL scholar success.
Schedule and carry out all activities related to TELPAS (Writing prompts, training, modeling, testing sessions, etc.).
Administer tests to evaluate scholar’s progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
Collaborate with others (e.g., teachers, administrators, scholars, parents, other District personnel, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Coordinates ESL program components, support needs and materials for the purpose of meeting scholar needs while complying with District and/or program guidelines.
Leads and/or participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required from TEA.
Maintains and trains on the maintenance of all ESL records and documents.
Ensure that all scholar documents are archived, copied and distributed to the appropriate members (ESL and 504).
Ensures Title III requirements are effectively being implemented by designing, scheduling, and carrying out ESL Parent Nights in accordance with the Campus Improvement Plan.
Serve as the campus liaison for Migrant Identification and Recruitment.

Management & Organizations:

Implement classroom rules/procedures (including consequences) and follow school drills and sub protocol procedures in accordance with the Parent/Scholar Handbook and utilize the Handbook as a first point of reference.
Maintain a neat, clean, orderly, and educationally centered environment that demonstrates BA standards of excellence. BA teachers take ownership of the campus and instill this in scholars daily.




Professionalism & Communication:

Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights and other assigned duties.
Complete required training on time.
Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments.
Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. Exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks. 
Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Refrain from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media.   Use professional communication on and off campus, refraining from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media. Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress.  Apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars etc.).
Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns. 
Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.

Other duties/ responsibilities:

As a Beta Academy team member, you must be able and willing to participate in all dance/ stomp productions throughout the academic school year.
Additional duties may be assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Special Populations.
This role is 100% onsite 




Minimum Qualifications:

Required English as a Second Language Certification with the State of Texas.
Minimum of five years of experience is required.
