Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose Implement the special education referral, evaluation, and educational planning process. Assess the educational progress, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for the students with disabilities. Facilitate coordination of the district’s special education program to ensure provision of needed services for students with special needs. Perform professional psychological work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of students referred for special education services. |
Qualifications: | Qualifications: Education/Certification Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes Understanding of emotional, behavioral and developmental disorders in childhood Knowledge of behavioral theories and Applied Behavior Analysis Ability to interpret data from educational and psychological evaluations Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students, their parents, and school personnel Knowledge of local, state and federal special education policies and procedures Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with related service providers regarding evaluation and student services Experience Experience in a school setting as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology |
