Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:

Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in Football. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in Boys’ athletics. The Boys’ Athletic Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing all issues concerning the Boys’ athletic programs for high school and middle schools.


Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures

Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules

Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate district function

Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

CDL License



Experience:

Five years experience as Head Coach preferred.





Major Responsibilities and Duties:



Professional and Personal Relationships


Displays loyalty to fellow coaches, administrators and school board.
Supports athletes, coaches and Athletic Director in all sports. Attends other athletic contests.
Works with fellow coaches in a professional, courteous manner
Follows the chain of command avoids and discourages “gossip” and “gripe” sessions among fellow coaches.
Will be involved with the Athletic Director in the Athletic Evaluation Process.
Will settle conflicts and problems within the men’s athletic department, if possible, before the problem is brought to the attention of the Athletic Director or Principal






Administrative Responsibilities


Completes paperwork (i.e.: travel requests, requisitions, meal requests, letter jacket and awards information, etc.) in a timely and professional manner.
Manages budget effectively and schedules contests in accordance with budget.
Understands and adheres to UIL, NBISD and Athletic Department Policies and Procedures.
Works with the Athletic Director and Principal on the assignment of staff to supervise athletic activities
Works with Athletic Director and Principal on the coaching assignments for boys’ athletics
Involved in the collection and distribution of all UIL forms and information. UIL forms will then be turned into the Athletic Director
Must be knowledgeable of general UIL rules and regulations and is the first resource of information for men coaches. Assists staff in finding answers for UIL issues in question from Athletic Director or Principal.


Facilities and Equipment


Takes initiative to make improvements to facilities each year (this not being the responsibility of the maintenance department).
Teams are dressed neatly and in a uniformed manner.
Takes proper care of and secures equipment to ensure that unnecessary replacements are not made.
Communicates facility maintenance, needs and concerns with the Athletic Director. Prior to the start of seasonal play, (fall, winter, spring sports), the head boys’ coach will report the conditions of facilities to the Athletic Director and Principal.


Communication


Communicates effectively, professionally and courteously with parents via handbook, meetings, phone calls, conferences, etc.
Effectively and efficiently communicates with Athletic Director and school administration.
Professionally and courteously communicates with faculty regarding academic performance of student-athletes
Effectively communicates expectations to middle school coaches (Ensures vertical alignment of sport fundamentals and techniques).
Will attend seasonal meetings with the Athletic Director concerning personnel, scheduling, facilities, and play-off concerns


Public Relations


Promotes sport and student-athletes in the community
Pro-actively and efficiently communicates information to media references
Will organize, with the Athletic Director, boys’ teams involvement within the Booster club


Students and Athletes


Supports and encourages the multi-sport philosophy.
Has a positive relationship with student-athletes and coaches (does not demean or berate student-athletes).
Holds student-athletes to high expectations regarding discipline, behavior, attendance, promptness, academic performance etc.
Effectively maintains eligibility of student-athletes.


Coaching Performance



Constantly works toward professional improvement through research, clinics, visits, etc.
Organizes and prepares thoroughly for daily practices (minimizes downtime in practices to get movement on the field/court).
Is in attendance and on time to all practices, contests and meetings.
Is enthusiastic and energetic in practices and contests (make it fun!)
Acceptable winning percentage in sport, considering contributing factors
Other assignments as deemed necessary


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned assistant coaches and student athletic assistants.

Master’s Degree Preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Salary Range: Salary range $81,297-$114,600 based on similar experience
