Description/Notes: MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Manager of Educator Credentialing Services in the Division of Educator Certification leads efforts to effectively support school districts and educators in matters related to educator certification services. This energetic and highly skilled professional utilizes district experience and a strong focus on continuous improvement to transform processes specific to issuance and renewal of educator certificates and permits; the development and implementation of certification rules; and the effective delivery of certification-related services for the educational community. The Manager of Educator Credentialing Services directs, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of division staff. This position reports to the Director of Educator Certification and works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Staff Management Supervises and supports the day-to-day activities of 3 License & Permit Specialists and 2 Education Specialists and develops schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals.
Product Management Utilizes performance metrics and feedback to enhance team skills with accuracy in completion of work and timely delivery of certification products to customers; monitors and evaluates procedures and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Division Projects Successfully manages projects and completes work that directly supports the divisions core responsibilities.
Team Leadership Supports the director in the daily operations of the division, setting of goals, and establishing policies and procedures to maintain division and individual staff member success; prepares management and productivity reports for division director.
Ad Hoc Requests Completes other duties as assigned by division director and other members of the leadership team.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: At least 6 years of experience in a school district or other educational setting with supervisory and project management experience. Strong knowledge of the educator certification process is preferred.

Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Evidence of strong supervisory background and demonstrated record of successful team management
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and the ability to take appropriate actions in difficult situations
Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to the Texas Education Code and Texas Administrative Code
Proven ability to critically reflect on performance, determine root-cause of issues, and find solutions that improve work product and efficiency
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), including skill in writing for the intended audience and instructing others to provide responses that are factual, concise, and professionally written
Proficiency in using a variety of software applications to perform work and develop technical solutions, including but not limited to Office 365, Microsoft, Adobe Acrobat, internet browsers, customized databases, and certification online systems
Excellent stakeholder management skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school districts, educator preparation programs, educational service centers, the agencys governmental relations staff, and other TEA business units
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment
A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve and to require the same of his or her team
Ability to engage in a collaborative, results-oriented team environment

Salary Range: Salary (Pay Basis): 5,258.66 - 6,941.50 (Monthly)
