Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose: The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for leading the operation of all financial and business affairs of the District to include accounting and financial reporting, accounts payable, budget, benefits and risk management, data processing, debt administration, fixed assets, payroll, purchasing, FEMA, grants, tax collection, and treasury. Provide leadership for the District’s financial services to ensure legally sound and effective management practices that obtain maximum support and contribution to the instructional programs and operational areas. Serve as chief financial and budget advisor to the Superintendent on management and investment strategies of all district funds to ensure adequate protection. Provide excellent customer service to all members of the Superintendent’s cabinet and ensure the same in all aspects of business and finance. Promote and maintain a culture of innovation and excellence. Explore, design, and implement innovative best practices in an effort to attract and retain the best staff possible. |
Qualifications: | Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or closely related field with concentration in finance and accounting from an accredited college or university recognized by the US Department of Education. Master’s degree preferred Certified Public Accountant (preferred) Registered Texas School Business Administrator (TASBO) Certification Experience: Minimum five years as Chief Financial Officer or Administrative Head of one or more major business functions in a Texas school district system. Experience in the following areas: o Texas public school finance and managing school district budget o Evaluating debt capacity and managing bond funds o Preparing and reviewing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) |
Salary Range: | Executive Leadership Pay Grade 3 226 Days Up to $165,951 Commensurate to experience |
