Campus Description: Hidden between the metropolis of Houston and the growing East Fort Bend County, Stafford Municipal School District (SMSD) maintains its small-school environment while addressing the educational needs of the 21st century. What began as a grassroots mission with 547 students has evolved into a mid-sized, 4A public school district with an enrollment of a little over 3,500 students.

The tree-lined complex is home to five campuses, addressing the instructional needs of students from full-day Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. SMSD's facilities are designed to allow its students to attend elementary and secondary schools without the disruption of ever-changing school attendance zones. Dual Language programs in Spanish-English and Chinese-English are available at Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. All classrooms are equipped with instructional technology, including computers, interactive whiteboards, and projectors. Additionally, Stafford Middle School has been designated as an "Apple Coding School", which means all students and staff are provided iPads for teaching and learning purposes.

All classrooms have access to sets of laptops, iPads, and electronic student response systems. All teachers are provided with laptop computers. The Stafford College and Career Center, located at Stafford High School, is home of 12 state-of-the-art career academies designed to lead students to colleges, universities and careers. These college and career programs have certification opportunities which include: engineering; information technology; manufacturing; transportation, distribution and logistics; health sciences; agricultural, food, and natural sciences; law, public safety, correction and security; educational training; marketing; business management and administration; culinary arts; and military science.

The district prides itself in allowing students to participate in as many school activities and organizations as possible, provided high academic standards are maintained. Students can participate in UIL academic competition in addition to UIL athletic programs including football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, track, tennis, power-lifting, and cross-country. The district is one of few 4A districts to offer boys and girls soccer, tennis, and swimming. Stafford High School athletes have been named not only to all-district and all-state athletic teams but also to “Academic All-State” teams. The Mighty Spartan Band, which consists of over 250 members, continues to earn UIL Sweepstakes.

As the only municipal school district in the state, the district partners with the City of Stafford by utilizing the city’s municipal swimming pool and the Stafford Civic Center, both located within the district’s complex. These facilities allow extension in the curriculum by offering swimming lessons to second and fourth-grade students. The city also provides use of the Stafford Centre, a full-performance venue, for fine arts programs and banquets and underwrites the cost for all high school juniors to prepare for SAT college entrance exams through a comprehensive SAT Preparatory Course. SMSD truly is “the best little school district” in Texas!
