Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
Provide direct/consultative occupational therapy services to students with disabilities
Support the activities and purpose of IDEA-B
Provide technical assistance regarding Occupational Therapy to LEAs/SSAs and Region 10 staff

Specific Responsibilities and Duties for the Occupational Therapist:
Remain abreast of trends and developments in occupational therapy services for students with disabilities in the educational setting
Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services for students with disabilities within Region 10 as assigned
Administer evaluations and prepare computer-generated report of evaluations, proposed IEP/follow-up activities utilizing a format developed by Region 10
Document progress and submit six/nine-week student progress reports. Prepare a summary of progress at least on an annual basis based on previously established IEP
Develop an itinerant schedule for providing occupational therapy services
Provide assistance in the selection, acquisition and use of adaptive/assistive equipment and/or devices
Assume responsibilities for and maintain confidentiality relative to student records/data
Maintain records relative to students with disabilities and submit such records at times specified. Be responsible for the accuracy of reports and caseload data
Participate in ARD process and IEP development for specified students with disabilities
Consult with LEA/SSA personnel on appropriate instructional strategies, techniques and materials for students with disabilities
Participate in periodic meetings with staff to explore issues, view new materials/equipment, and share and exchange information
Serve on at least one committee/special project a year
Qualifications: Education/Certifications:
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
Current license from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to anticipate/identify programmatic needs/potential problems and develop successful responses/solutions
Knowledge and skills required to administer and interpret appropriate assessment and evaluation instruments
Skills in interpersonal communication with peers, students, parents, and teachers
Ability to work with a wide range of students with disabilities
Ability to maintain a professional relationship with peers and school personnel

Providing occupational therapy in the educational setting to a wide variety of students with disabilities ages 3-22
Salary Range: $49,427-$68,689 (Estimate based on experience and skill set.) This position is 196 work days.
Benefits: 36-hour work weeks, 10 earned personal leave days and $397.20/month as an employer contribution to assist with health insurance.
