Highland Lakes Elementary is a PK-5 Title 1 campus. GT instruction is provided in grades 1-5. The campus also has a Life Unit that services the educational requirements of special needs students. Additional academic support to our students is integrated through the use of technology, as it is being more integrated into the classroom through district initiatives (IPADS and Laptops). Additionally, there are computer labs and science labs available for student use. The school has an on campus Nature Trail that is used to promote educational interest and learning. Fine arts are administered through a Specials rotation of Art, Music, and PE. The classroom teachers are supported by an on-campus Instructional coach, district instructional technologist, and paraprofessionals.

Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
Highly qualified by the standards established by TEA for the specific position held
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
|Salary Range:||Teacher salary: $44,200 - $61,300|
