Campus Description: Counselor with Emphasis on Threat Assessment and Management will provide professional guidance and training to campus administrators, parents and staff on threat assessment, management and response. The incumbent's primary focus is to ensure that campus threat teams are trained and responsive to threats on campuses. This incumbent will support campus teams by providing intervention, prevention and management strategies.

Identify
• Plan, guide and provide training to faculty, staff and district personnel on at risk behaviors that may trigger threatening, violent or serious psychological or threatening behavior
• Create, implement and train campus staff on threat management steps, protocols and responses
• Counsel students individually or in groups regarding presenting concerns, respond to students who are in crisis, assist students with transitions (8th to 9th, returning DAEP/JJAEP etc. ), inform supervisors of student threats to themselves and/or other students, and participate in campus and district crisis intervention response teams
• Develop protocols to assist campus staff on identifying at risk and potentially harmful student behaviors
• Co-chair a task force that is comprised of community members, administrators and students on threat assessment on a bi-monthly basis

Assess
• Provide evaluations and recommendations regarding students with academic and severe social/conduct problems
• Respond and assess campus calls regarding severity of disturbance
• Provide an individualized "safety care" plan for each student referred to the team
• Provide direct guidance to campus personnel on wrap around service providers
• Provide consultation services as needed regarding student needs by participating in various campus team meetings (i.e., instructional support teams, 504, ARDS, Gifted and Talented)
• Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action and stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal and professional growth including mandatory district provided training
• Provide direct support to campus Threat Assessment Teams

Manage
• Track all students with severe emotional and threatening behaviors that have been referred to the District Threat Assessment Team
• Lead/co-lead the district safety management team including the development of handbook, guide and steps to respond to severe emotional behaviors that result in crisis
• Development and training of a Safety Threat Assessment Handbook for all campus administrators
• Provide weekly updates to Executive Director regarding campus calls, students with disruptions, wrap-around services, student meetings and visits to campuses
• Work collaboratively with all campus assessment teams to ensure follow-up, wrap-around services and support
• Consult and guide through meetings, phone calls, and training with various stakeholders including teachers, parents, administrators, school psychologists, diagnosticians, nurses and other professionals regarding support and wrap-around services

Qualifications: EDUCATION REQUIRED
Master's Degree - Guidance and Counseling or related field required

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Texas School Counselor Certification or Eligible for Texas Certification - LPC-Licensed Professional Counselor

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 3 years - Classroom teaching experience and/or certified school counselor experience required

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Salary Range: $67,383-$96,966
